The Sri Lankan Railway is the perfect way for you see the soothing landscapes away from city, mountains, paddy fields, waterways and more. You will travel from Colombo to Kandy, Kandy to Haputale and the Southern beaches to Colombo by train with excursions and other city transfers done by a private vehicle.
DAY 01: AIRPORT

Welcoming you at the Bandaranaike International Airport, a representative of Hayley’s Tours will take you to Colombo.

Check in to the hotel and relax by the pool until dinner time.

DAY 02: TEMPLE OF THE TOOTH RELIC

After an early breakfast, you will be taken to the Fort Railway Station in Colombo. Today, you'll be taking the train to Kandy. You will come across several beautiful landscapes during this 2.5 hour journey. In Kandy, a city famed for its cultural value, you will visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic.

Day 03: MILLENNIUM ELEPHANT FOUNDATION

Today you have the option of visiting the Millennium Elephant Foundation in Pinnawela or go batik and gem shopping in Kandy. You could also take a stroll in the Royal Botanical Gardens in Peradeniya.

Once you return to the hotel, you can enjoy a cultural dance show at approx. 1700 hours.

DAY 04: HAPUTALE

After breakfast, you will take the train to Haputale from Peradeniya town. One of best train journeys in the world, you will be treated to breathtaking views of waterfalls, green plains, mountains and tea plantations.

Once you arrive at the train station, you will be met by a representative of Hayley’s Tours and taken to the hotel.

Day 05: LIPTON'S SEAT

You will visit the Lipton's Seat, a great vantage point to take in the seemingly endless paddy fields and villages dotted around. You could also visit the Adisham Bungalow, a monastery run by Benedictine Monks.

Day 06: YALA

Today you will travel to Yala, where you will set off on a game drive to Yala National Park. This the second largest forest reserve in Sri Lanka and popular haunt of wildlife enthusiasts.

DAY 07 - DAY 10: YALA | LEISURE

Enjoy a breakfast leisurely or go on another early morning jeep safari to Yala with a packed breakfast. In the afternoon, you will travel to a beach destination of your choice in the South Coast.

Once you arrive, it is time to get sun-kissed and relax or try out some water sports.

Leave the coastal town just in time to catch your flight back home!
