Day 01: AIRPORT | COLOMBO

Welcome to Sri Lanka, as you set foot on this beautiful island, you'll be met by a Chauffeur Guide of Hayleys Travels and transported in an air-conditioned vehicle to your hotel in Colombo, the largest city and former capital of Sri Lanka. Colombo is a worthy destination in its own right and makes an excellent start and end to your holiday with many colonial era buildings amongst the skyscrapers and shopping malls with a little bit of the cultural touch that surrounds it.

Day 02: COLOMBO CITY TOUR

After breakfast, you will be taken on a city tour of Colombo by tuk tuk where you will spend the day visiting, the Arcade – Independence Square, the Gangaramaya Temple, the National Museum, Pettah floating market and concluding your day with a shopping experience in Colombo.

Colombo is located on the west coast of the island and adjacent to Sri Jayewardenepura Kotte, the capital. Colombo is a busy and vibrant city with a mixture of modern life and colonial buildings.

Day 03: MILLENNIUM ELEPHANT FOUND. | DAMBULLA

After breakfast, you will proceed to Dambulla enroute visiting the Millennium Elephant Foundation where you can have an up-close experience with the gentle giants.

Millennium Elephant Foundation (MEF) a family run non-government organization (NGO) which is dedicated to improving the welfare of domestic elephants throughout Sri Lanka. It houses elephants rescued from aggressive mahouts and elephants retired from working in temples.

Day 04: SIGIRIYA | POLONNARUWA

Your tour today will start early in the morning, you'll be visiting one of Sri Lanka’s most famous landmarks, the Sigiriya Rock Fortress. The Lion Rock is said to be the 8th wonder of the world! It is also Asia's best-maintained city of the first millennium.

You'll be continuing on a sightseeing tour of Polonnaruwa, a city with ruins of majestic palaces, king’s council halls, royal tubs and ruins of Buddhist shrines. Explore the grandest ruins and archaeological sites, with many UNESCO appeals.

Day 05: DAMBULLA | HOT-AIR BALLOONING | KANDY

Taking a packed breakfast, you will leave on an optional early morning hot-air balloon ride. Hot-air ballooning is a marvelous experience. Gaze at the beautiful panoramas from the clouds up in the blue skies.

In the evening you will proceed to Kandy, enroute visiting the Dambulla Rock Cave Temple. The beautiful Royal Rock Temple complex sits about 160m above the road in the southern part of Dambulla.

Day 06: ROYAL BOTANICAL GARDENS | COOKERY LESSON

Today after, breakfast you will visit the Royal Botanical Gardens which includes more than 4000 species of lovely flowers, herbs and tall trees, it is renowned for its collection of orchids.

Thereafter, you will join a hands-on cooking class with immense satisfaction in making your own meal from scratch. Try your hands at everything starting from cracking a coconut in half to chopping veggies to tempering spices learning techniques and key ingredients in Sri Lankan cooking.

Day 07: TEMPLE OF THE TOOTH RELIC | TRAIN EXPERIENCE

After breakfast do some sightseeing including a visit to the Temple of the Tooth Relic. The sacred Temple of the Tooth, the world’s most venerated Buddhist temple that contains a tooth of Buddha which was collected from his funeral pyre also, this beautiful temple holds great ancient history and artefacts.

In the afternoon, you will catch a train to Nanu Oya leaving the Kandy station and spend the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 08: HORTON PLAINS NATIONAL PARK

With a packed breakfast you'll be leaving for the Horton Plains National Park and hike to the World’s End and Bakers Falls - one of the best Nuwara Eliya waterfalls! Horton Plains National Park is capped by mountainous grassland and cloud forests on Sri Lanka’s highest elevation over 2100m above sea level. This destination is a peculiar and peaceful region with an eye-popping diversity of landscape. Explore the thick grasslands and marshes, experience the feeling of washing your face from the natural chilly streams, lakes and breathtaking waterfalls.

Thereafter, you will spend the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 09: NUWARA ELIYA | WELIGAMA

After breakfast, you will proceed to Weligama for your long awaited beach stay.

Weligama which means a Sandy Village is an interesting blend of lively fishing and beach resort for a perfect beach stay. Apart from palm-fringed beaches and rich cultural heritage, you will find an easily-accessible tropical surfing paradise in Weligama area. Weligama’s main bay is the best place to learn to surf in Sri Lanka.

Day 10-11: WELIGAMA | SURFING

Spend the rest of the days at leisure engaging in surfing lessons and much more.

Surfing in Sri Lanka is a popular water sport among the foreign tourists who visit the beautiful beaches of Sri Lanka. Weligama is known for its good waves all year round and is a favorite for beginners and intermediate surfers. Apart from palm-fringed beaches and rich cultural heritage, you will find an easily-accessible tropical surfing paradise in Weligama area.

Day 12: WELIGAMA | GALLE | CINNAMON EXPERIENCE

After breakfast, you will proceed to Galle.

In the evening, you will engage in a Cinnamon experience in which a practical presentation on how Cinnamon is harvested and much more.

Cinnamon was discovered in Sri Lanka by Portuguese. They Identified it as a wild tree, researching its benefits and designing method to cultivate and harvest it. In time cinnamon cultivation and export became one of our prime assets as Sri Lanka produces 90% of world's supply of true cinnamon.

Day 13: GALLE | AIRPORT

After breakfast, you will leave for the airport for your departure back to your country of origin. We wish you have a safe flight home, carrying all the memories collected from Sri Lanka.
